THE REFUSAL OF THE TAO

Acrylic painting on canvas / double-sided sculpture pulled on a revolving iron frame

The work "IL RIFIUTO DEL TAO" is a sculpture made by modeling the broken pieces of about 30 recycled soccer balls. Once the pieces were unstitched, they were reassembled by sewing them by hand. The resulting sculpture was pulled to a revolving iron frame with a diameter of about 2 meters.

The multi-perspective work consists of two sides, respectively the external and internal part of the old soccer balls.

The "REFUSAL OF THE TAO" represents the discomfort that man feels in not knowing his own existential condition.
However much he deludes himself to understand by naming and judging, however much he increases his ego by adapting discoveries to his purposes and needs, however much he believes and convinces himself, through his abilities, that he is above things, that he can be for example destroyer or savior of his planet, in reality he cannot go against nature in any way as he himself is part of nature. Its action cannot in any way alter the predefined scheme of the universe (represented by the Tao). Nature does not judge actions as good or bad, it is only able to direct them towards an incomprehensible purpose and to which man must humbly adapt and adapt.
The work will be exhibited at the RUA Re Use Art exhibition set up by Inarte Werkkunst Gallery Bergamo from 28/09 to 25/10/2019 www.inartegallery.it
